The Mountain

Three distinct mountain areas, one high-alpine playground. Explore the sectors and understand how the ski area connects.

Get to know
the terrain.

Sölden's 147km ski area is organised around Giggijoch, Gaislachkogl and the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glacier sectors.

The official interactive map and live lift/piste status are the controlling references for route planning. Published piste totals and infrastructure descriptions do not mean every lift or run will be open on a particular day.

SECTOR 01 / CRUISING

Giggijoch

A broad network of marked pistes and efficient lift access. Piste 13 is a documented long blue descent (10.8km) served by Silberbrünnl; piste 15 is another long blue option (9.9km).

SECTOR 02 / VARIED TERRAIN

Gaislachkogl

Higher, more dramatic terrain with a mix of blue, red and black marked pistes. Pistes 1 + 4 + 3a provide a documented descent to Wasserkar; harder options include pistes 3 and 1a.

SECTOR 03 / HIGH ALPINE

Rettenbach & Tiefenbach

Two glacier sectors linked by lifts and an approximately 200m ski tunnel. Rettenbach is generally more challenging; Tiefenbach is generally wider and flatter.

GIGGIJOCH / LIFT UPDATE

Silberbrünnl

The eight-seater Silberbrünnl lift opened for 2025/26. Published specifications list capacity of 3,800 passengers per hour and a ride time of about 5.3 minutes.

Infrastructure facts do not replace the daily operating-status check.

GAISLACHKOGL / 2026–27 PROJECT

Gratl six-seater

The old Gratl double chair is being replaced by a Doppelmayr D-Line six-seater. The operator's project information specifies 53 chairs, up to 2,300 passengers per hour and an approximately 4.2-minute ride.

A new blue piste 1b is part of the project. The planned commissioning date is not proof of operation during the trip: check live status after opening.

The BIG3 viewpoints

Gaislachkogl, Tiefenbachkogl and Schwarze Schneid each have a viewing platform above 3,000m. The official BIG3 Rally links them in a full-area challenge; allow a full day and check visibility, wind and lift operation.

Valley connection

The blue connection created by linking pistes 7 and 22 was completed for 2025/26. It connects the valley areas around Gaislachkogl, the village centre, Postplatz and Giggijoch. This is existing infrastructure, not a new 2026/27 opening.

Check the map before choosing a sector, then check status again on the day. Weather and wind can differ substantially between the village and glacier.

Terrain descriptions are broad planning guidance, not guarantees of snow quality, safety or open pistes. Snowmaking improves piste reliability but does not predict natural snow or powder. Off-piste terrain is not controlled like marked pistes; consult the dedicated safety guidance before considering it.
